Erick Pichardo is a local artist who explores African cultural and
religious influences on the societies of the Caribbean through his
vividly beautiful paintings. He will visit Grand Valley to give a
lecture titled "Magical Concession" on Tuesday, March 20 from
2:30-4 p.m. in 215/216 Kirkhof Center on the Allendale Campus.
Pichardo was born in the Dominican Republic and studied fine arts there.
He has participated in a number of refereed art shows and is an active
member of the local West Michigan art scene. His presentation will
explore Latin American art and how his own work fits into this broader
field. In addition to his afternoon presentation, he will be displaying
his works all day in the lobby of Kirkhoff Center.
