Workshop will help faculty deal with difficult classrooms

A workshop sponsored by several campus departments is geared toward helping faculty members developing strategies for dealing with students who are disruptive in class.

"Classroom Dynamics: Issues Faced by Female Faculty" is scheduled for November 2, from 4-5:30 p.m. in the Kirkhof Center, room 201.

Organizers said the workshop may also be helpful for department heads who want to support a faculty member's success in the classroom. Disruptions include sleeping during class, coming late, answering phone calls and making inappropriate remarks during class.

RSVP by October 30 by calling the Dean of Students Office at (616) 331-3585 or sending an e-mail to [email protected]. Workshop co-sponsors are the Dean of Students Office, Women's Center, Women and Gender Studies Program, Pew Faculty Teaching and Learning Center, and College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
