Perugino String Quartet celebrates Shostakovich

The Perugino String Quartet will perform two concerts of music by Shostakovich in honor of the 100th anniversary of his birth. In addition they will perform Beethoven's string quartet, Opus 74 "The Harp," a masterpiece of his middle period. The quartet-in-residence at Grand Valley State University includes members Eric Tanner and Diane McElfish, violins; Barbara Corbato, viola; and Stacey Bosman Tanner, cello.

The Artist-Faculty Series/Downtown Showcase is at 3 p.m. Sunday, November 19, at Loosemore Auditorium, DeVos Center, Pew Grand Rapids Campus. They close the fall semester of the Arts at Noon Series on Thursday, November 30, at noon in the Cook-DeWitt Center, Allendale Campus. Both performances are free and open to the public.
