More than 200 people participated in the second pedometer challenge, sponsored by Work Life Connections.
Teams of two-four people tracked their steps for six weeks, with a goal of reaching 10,000 steps per day. Jennifer Glaab and Tony Glaab won for the highest weekly percent change, at 67.5 percent. The team with the most steps was Marcia Frobish, David Coffey, John Gabrosek and Phyllis Curtiss; they walked 2.2 million steps.
Aaron Lehr, Human Resources intern, said participants averaged 8,056 steps per day.
Grand Valley's walkers competed against those from Saginaw Valley State University, in a friendly challenge similar to "Battle of the Valleys." SVSU won: 87,941 steps to 56,395 GVSU steps. Penny Allen Cook accepted the Golden Shoe trophy November 4 at the football game against Saginaw Valley.
