Media Advisory - Photo Opportunity

On Monday, January 23, Yosay Wangdi, of the Grand Valley State University history department, will conduct a sari wrapping lesson and teach application techniques of traditional Indian make-up to a very select few. The session is with the costume designer and key cast members in the upcoming Grand Valley production of The Secret Garden.

Wangdi, a native of India, is offering her expertise to help authenticate the costumes of several characters, including Ayah, the Indian nanny. Costume designer Jill Hamilton is providing several saris from her personal collection, which range from 5 to 9 yards of fabric from cotton to silk.

Media are invited to this photo opportunity, which will begin at 10 a.m. and last about 2 hours. We are meeting in the lobby of the Louis Armstrong Theatre, in the Performing Arts Center on the Allendale Campus.

The Secret Garden is presented by the GVSU Opera Theatre on February 3, 4, 10 and 11 at 7:30 p.m. and February 5 and 12 at 2 p.m. Tickets may be purchased at the LAT Box Office, Mondays through Fridays, from noon to 5 p.m. or through Star Tickets Plus outlets.
