GVSU to host AIM Alliance

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- The Dorothy A. Johnson Center for Philanthropy and Nonprofit Leadership at Grand Valley State University will host the AIM Alliance meeting October 3-5, in the DeVos Center of the Pew Grand Rapids Campus.

AIM Alliance is a partnership among the Johnson Center, Indiana University's Center on Philanthropy, and Arizona State University's Center for Nonprofit Leadership and Management. The alliance is the first of its kind in the sector with a goal to improve services for all nonprofit academic centers.

"The AIM Alliance is an unprecedented partnership among the nation's three leading academic centers for the study of philanthropy," said Kathy Agard, executive director of the Johnson Center. "By working together, we can establish national standards, promote great diversity, and make the entire field of study even more useful to foundations and nonprofit organizations."

The three universities were awarded a $7.5 million grant from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation Battle Creek to collaborate and utilize each center's strengths to increase capacity and diversity of the nonprofit sector.

Attending the event will be Robert F. Ashcraft, executive director of the Center for Nonprofit Leadership and Management at Arizona State, and Eugene R. Tempel, executive director of the Center on Philanthropy at Indiana University.

Established in 1992 with support from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, the Dorothy A. Johnson Center for Philanthropy and Nonprofit Leadership promotes effective philanthropy, community improvement, and excellence in nonprofit leadership through teaching, research, and service. The Johnson Center is recognized for its applied research that benefits practitioners and nonprofits through its Community Research Institute, Nonprofit Good Practice Guide and The Grantmaking School.
