GVSU holds candidate forums

The Public Policy Institute at Grand Valley State University is holding a series of candidate forums to help voters learn more about the candidates and issues in prior to the November elections. These forums are free and open to the public, and media coverage is encouraged

  • 75th State House District
    Monday, October 23 -- 7:00-8:00 p.m.
    Candidates: Rev. Robert Dean, Democrat; Mr. Tim Doyle, Republican

  • 29th State Senate District
    Monday, October 23 -- 8:10-9:10 p.m.
    Candidates: Mr. David LaGrand, Democrat; State Senator Bill Hardiman, Republican

  • 3rd U.S. Congressional District
    Wednesday, October 25 -- 7:00-8:00 p.m.
    Candidates: Congressman Vernon J. Ehlers, Republican; Mr. James Rinck, Democrat

  • 28th State Senate District
    Wednesday, October 25 -- 8:10-9:10 p.m.
    Candidates: Mr. Albert Abbasse, Democrat; Mr. Mark Jansen, Republican

  • Forum on Ballot Proposals 1, 3, 4, and 5
    Monday, October 30, 7:00 -- 9:15 p.m.
    Proposal 1: Protection of conservation and recreation funds
    Proposal 4: Restriction of government's eminent domain powers
    Proposal 3: A referendum to allow hunting of mourning doves
    Proposal 5: Require mandatory funding levels: K-12 & college education

Candidate Forums are held in the Loosemore Auditorium at the DeVos Center on the GVSU Pew Grand Rapids Campus, 401 Fulton Street West. Free parking available in Fulton Street lot. See maps at www.gvsu.edu/meetatgvsu.
