Grand Valley students and staff meet with Gov. Granholm

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- Two weeks before the 2006 election, Grand Valley State Universitys Hauenstein Center for Presidential Studies will travel to Lansing as part of Michigan Leadership Day. Staff from the center, along with a group of students, will tour the state capital and meet with Michigan leaders, including Gov. Jennifer Granholm.

"This is a great opportunity for students to be able to listen to leaders at the highest level of state government talk about their challenges and contributions to public service, said Gleaves Whitney, director of the Hauenstein Center.

Michigan Leadership Day will take place Tuesday, October 24.

Meetings are scheduled with Gov. Jennifer Granholm, Sen. Bob Emerson of Genesee County, Superintendent of Public Instruction Mike Flanagan, and Communications Director for the Office of the Attorney General Rusty Hills.
