- 63 percent earned a varsity letter in one or more sports
- 5 percent created artwork that was exhibited in a statewide or regional show
- 5 percent had written works published in a public newspaper or magazine or in a state/national high school anthology
- 6 percent won a literary award or prize for creative writing
- 50 percent were active in community or neighborhood service programs
- 53 percent plan to earn graduate degrees
- 95 percent expect to earn a B average or better in their first year of college (46 percent expect a 3.5 GPA or better)
- 88 percent intend to work at a job during their first year of college
- 85 percent attended public high schools
- 18 percent come from communities with fewer than 2,000 inhabitants; 55 percent come from cities/towns with 2,000-50,000 people.
