FTLC conference focuses on liberal education initiative

The 12th Annual Fall Conference on Teaching and Learning is scheduled for Wednesday, August 23, in Henry Hall. Catherine Frerichs, director of the Pew Faculty Teaching and Learning Center, said the keynote addresess and sessions will emphasize aspects of the Claiming a Liberal Education Initiative.

Keynote speakers are Clara Lovett, president emerita of Northern Arizona Univesity and the last president of the American Association of Higher Education; and Martha Hemwall, dean of academic student services at Lawrence University. Lovett will speak at 9 a.m. and Hemwall at 10:30 a.m. The faculty- and staff-led workshops will also follow the theme of the conference: "Developing the Whole Student: Collaborating with Student Support Services."
