Football 101 planned for international faculty and staff

Fall means football, but for some international faculty and staff, football means soccer.

To help international faculty and staff members understand the basics of football, two presentations will be held to discuss the language and culture of the sport.

"Understanding American Football," will be held Friday, September 22, from noon-1:30 p.m. in the Kirkhof Center, room 201; and Monday, September 25, from noon-1:30 p.m. in the DeVos Center, room 117E. Alan Headbloom, founder of English Training Consultants, will show game highlights and discuss scoring, positions and the phenomena surrounding the game (tailgate parties, marching bands, cheerleaders).

The presentations are sponsored by Work Life Connections. Register by sending an e-mail to Sue Sloop at [email protected] or by calling (616) 331-8011. Light refreshments will be served; participants are encouraged to bring their lunches.
