College Democrats sponsor presentation on mountaintop mining

Grand Valley's College Democrats are sponsoring a free multimedia presentation on mountaintop coal mining and its social and environmental justice impacts in the Appalachian mountains of Kentucky, West Virginia, Virginia and Tennessee.

The presentation, "Appalachian Treasures," is Wednesday, October 25, at 6 p.m. in the Kirkhof Center, Pere Marquette Room.

Appalachian Treasures organizers, who travel around the country, said that mountaintop mining has buried more than 1,200 miles of Appalachian streams.
