Rockford resident will receive GVSU alumni service award

Rockford resident Jamie Hosford will receive the 2005 Grand Valley State University Alumni Association Alumni Service Award for his support and service to the university.

President Mark A. Murray will present the award to Hosford during the October 1 football game against Wayne State University.

Hosford graduated from Grand Valley in 1977 and was an All-American football player and wrestler. He is a charter member of the GVSU Football Alumni Association and currently serves as the group's president.

As assistant superintendent for human resources at Rockford Public Schools, Hosford has partnered with the College of Education's Alumni Association for presentations and roundtable discussions. He has also served as an adjunct instructor.

A strong supporter of alumni programs, Hosford helped lead the successful Capital Campaign for the Alumni House in 1998. His twin sons, Dan and Tom, are both GVSU graduates and members of the national champion 2002 and 2003 Laker football teams.
