Rapid ridership hits all-time high

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- Grand Valley State University has helped push public transportation use in the greater Grand Rapids area to an all-time high. When the fiscal year ends tomorrow, Sept. 30, The Rapid will have provided over 6.3 million rides to area residents and visitors. Grand Valley students, faculty and staff have been a major force in ridership growth, accounting for over 1 million of the 6.3 million rides.

MEDIA OPPORTUNITY: To celebrate this milestone, The Rapid staff will be serving donuts and hot chocolate to passengers beginning at 7 a.m. at the main bus stop on the Pew Grand Rapids Campus. The bus stop is located near the intersection of Front Street and Mt. Vernon Avenue, under the U.S. 131 overpass.
