Grand Valley videos win Gold and Crystal

The News and Information Services office received a Gold Award from CASE, The Council for Advancement and Support of Education, at its regional meeting in Chicago in December. The Gold Award was in the Video PSAs and Commercial Spots category for the one-minute video spots called Around Grand Valley. The spots feature various activities and programs at the university and are put together in the style of news reports.

Professionals in video production and college public relations and marketing in Washington state judged the entries. They commented that, Around Grand Valley provided a great sense of the institution, were done in-house and provided significant information to the audience.

This is the sixth regional or national award for the features, which are put together in the style of news reports.

The video NIS produced for the fall convocation took top honors in the international Communicator Awards. It received the Crystal Award of Excellence for creativity and writing and an Award of Distinction in the educational/university category. Back-to-Back, the DVD NIS produced about the football teams second national championship won an Award of Distinction in External Communications/Sports and an Honorable Mentions for creativity and writing and in the education/university category.

NIS works with Cuppy Productions to produce the videos. Many are streamed on the Web at www.gvsu.edu.
