The games will be free and available through Grand Valley's Web site, www.gvsu.edu. Grand Valley made history when it streamed the first-ever NCAA Division II game live on the Web in 2002. Award-winning sports journalist Tom Cleary will again be doing the play-by-play announcing of the games.
The live Webcasts will provide an opportunity for Grand Valley fans throughout the world to see the Lakers, who are the preseason No. 1 pick in the Division II rankings in Sports Illustrated.
"This is going to be another great year of Laker football," said Tim Selgo, Grand Valley's director of Athletics. "We're excited about the possibility of virtually expanding our stadium and allowing Laker fans everywhere to watch the live action."
More than 10,000 people clicked into past Laker Web casts and alumni from as far away as Micronesia e-mailed their appreciation.
The university is looking into Webcasting the away games and any post-season play, but the technology isn't available at all stadiums on the Lakers' schedule. The only confirmed away game that will be live on the Internet is the one at Northwood on October 22.
