Faculty collecting donations for Nicaragua trip

Faculty who are traveling to Nicaragua in May are collecting common health care items to give to the women and children of Miraflor.

Miraflor is a rural, mountainous community; many people who live there fled the urban areas during the wars of the 1980s. They typically live without electricty, running water and have limited access to health care.

Through the Interdisciplinary Nicaragua Initiative, Padnos International Center, faculty, staff and students have worked directly with the people of Miraflor on health, nutrition, education and economic development.

Donations of antiacids, pain releavers, vitamins, adult and child cough medicine and decongestants and toothbrushes will be accepted at the Women's Center, 161Kirkhof Center, through April 29.

For more information, contact the Women's Center at x12748 or [email protected].
