Experience the World
The Kirkhof Center will be abuzz with the sights, sounds and aromas of
the world for the Intercultural Festival on October 26. During the
festival, members of the Grand Valley community will be able to witness
the fashion and artwork of diverse cultures, experience the rhythms,
language, music, and dance through performances, savor the aromas of
cultural dishes by visiting food vendors throughout the event and
interact with members of the GVSU community to open communication
regarding culture. The Intercultural Festival's schedule is below. All

11:15-11:45 a.m. and 12:30-1 p.m.: Naimah, belly dancer
11:30 -12:30: Guitarist Anna Maria
Noon-1 p.m.: Musician Bill Miller, 2005 Grammy winner for Best
Native¿American Music Album (vocal or instrumental)
Noon-1:30: Dr. Salvador Lopez-Arias-School of Social Work presents
"Identity: Racial and Gender Development"
1-1:30: Yan Yu, Sociology department at GVSU presents Mongolian
Dance performance
1-2 p.m.: Vibrophnoist and composer Lalo
1:30-2: Barbara Roos, School of Communications presentation titled
"Community Media or Colonialism: A video project in the South
Sinai (Egypt).
2-2:30: Capoeira Mandinga, Afro-Brazilian performance and workshop
2:30-3:30: Rythm in Blue: hip hop dance performance and workshop
2:30-4 p.m.: International Relations Organization presents an open
debate titled "What is an American?"
4-5: Dr. Steve Robbins lecture titled "Why We Should all Like
Stir-Fry: Unity Without Uniformity."
