The series is called Fire and Ice Week. Included in the schedule are talks by Roe v. Wade attorney Sarah Weddington and pro-life commentator Scott Klusendorf.
Nationally known pro-life lecturer and debater Klusendorf will speak on Wednesday, March 23 from 78:30 p.m. in the Grand River Room of the Kirkhof Center on the Allendale Campus. He is an author and former director of bioethics for the Christian organization Stand to Reason.
Klusendorf is dedicated to traveling throughout the United States and Canada speaking to students on the topic of abortion. He has appeared on nationally syndicated programs including "Focus on the Family" with Dr. James Dobson and Billy Graham's "Hour of Decision." It is his belief that the answer to abortion on demand should not involve violence, but rather logic and reasoning. There will be a Q and A session following the talk.
Weddington, the attorney who argued the winning side of the landmark Roe v. Wade Supreme Court case, will lead a discussion titled "Our Civil Rights and the Future" on Wednesday, March 30 at 9:15 p.m. in the Grand River Room of the Kirkhof Center on the Allendale Campus.
Weddington is a nationally known attorney and speaker on leadership and public issues. In 1973, at age 26, she argued the winning side of the landmark case Roe v. Wade before the United States Supreme Court. She is thought to be the youngest woman ever to win a case in the Supreme Court. She has recently been involved in promoting the development of leadership and self-renewal skills.
