Babies show off skills

Babies showed off their kicking, crawling and rolling skills before Grand Valley State University occupational therapy students during a "baby lab" held Monday, July 11.

Nancy Powell, associate professor and director of the occupational therapy program, said upper-level students worked in groups to give the babies motor development tests. About seven babies, all under 1 year old, participated -- along with their proud parents. The pupose of the lab, Powell said, was to give students practice in administering motor development tests.

The students will share their findings with parents. "This will really give parents an insight into their childs development," Powell said.
