Since 1988, December 1 has been observed as World AIDS Day. This year's event will be in the Loosemore Auditorium of the DeVos Center from 6-8 p.m.
World AIDS Day is aimed at celebrating the progress that has been made to battle the epidemic and also a time to recognize that a cure is still being sought. The event will feature food and refreshments, a display of panels from the Names Project AIDS Quilt, and interactive learning stations. There will also be free HIV counseling and testing from 2-5 p.m. at Winter Hall, 32 Winter Ave. behind Secchia Hall. The event is coordinated by the Sexual Health Awareness Coalition of Kent County.
