Sharpton to encourage voter registration

Democratic Party presidential candidate Rev. Al Sharpton speaks on the importance of voter registration at Grand Valley State University. The event takes place on Thursday, February 5 at the Cook-DeWitt Center on the Allendale Campus at 12:30 p.m. The program's sponsors are th e Iota Epsilon Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity and The Laker Zone. The Iota Epsilon chapter is supporting a national program in sequence named A Voteless People is a Hopeless People. This national program encourages college students and the entire community to involve themselves in the voting process. Sharpton will bring awareness on voting in addition to informing the public on the Democratic Presidential Caucuses in which the public has the ability to vote for a Democratic candidate to run for president. The date to vote in Michigan is Saturday, February 7, 2004.
