The Michigan ACE Network for Women Leaders in Higher Education has won the National ACE Network Award for the Advancement of Women in Higher Education. The statewide organization, established in 1978, supports women as they prepare to assume presidencies, vice presidencies and deanships in two- and four-year postsecondary institutions. The Michigan network was one of the original seven states to become a member of the National ACE program.
"Grand Valley has been very active in the ACE Women's network since its inception," said Mary Seeger, dean of Advising Resources and Special Programs, "and I have always been proud of our (and my) affiliation with the group."
The Michigan network serves more than 250 women leaders in 50 institutions across Michigan. Seeger said the image of women in higher education leadership roles has been strengthened through the organization by building stronger, better trained and well-prepared female leaders.
