Grand Valley State University President Mark A. Murray expresses the sentiments of the university community upon hearing of the death of entrepreneur and philanthropist Fred M. Keller.
The Fred M. Keller Engineering Laboratories Building on Grand Valley's Pew Campus in Grand Rapids was named in his honor in 1999. It is part of the Padnos College of Engineering and Computing.
"We are saddened at the loss of such an entrepreneurial and passionate spirit," said Murray. "Fred's life spanned nearly a century of technological progress. He was a man of faith who gave generously and was devoted to hands-on learning for the advancement of technology for the common good. His generosity and example has been an inspiration to our engineering students and faculty. We are deeply saddened by Fred's passing and our hearts go out to his wife Bernie and his entire family."
