Grand Valley's Financial Aid staff is encouraging students to renew
their Free Application for Student Financial Aid online this year. The
online FAFSA is proven to make filing for financial aid faster and
easier. Students can file now for the 2004-2005 academic year (which
includes the upcoming Spring/Summer semester).
There have been some changes to the process this year. Students who
wish to receive aid this Spring and Summer not only have to file the
FAFSA by February 15, but they must also complete an online application
that will be available by February on the Financial Aid Web site
.
This year the IRS will be verifying student income information. This
means anyone who completes the FAFSA using an estimated income must go
back and correct the FAFSA once they have completed their 2003 tax
return. All corrections can be made online using a personal
identification number.
Finally, the Financial Aid office will be moving to an online awarding
system in the upcoming semesters. Students are reminded to keep their
e-mail addresses up-to-date to be informed of developments.
