English teachers from the elementary, secondary and collegiate levels will meet in Lansing in October for a fall conference, "Go the Extra Mile," sponsored by the Michigan Council of Teachers of English.
Organizers are now seeking proposals for 50-minute presentations during the day-long conference. Jill VanAntwerp, Grand Valley assistant English professor and MCTE president-elect, said presenters should focus on methods used in their classrooms to teach critical thinking and literary skills.
