Advertising guru Stuart Elliott speaks at GVSU

What strategy will Martha Stewart's advertising and public relations companies come up with following her conviction? How are Janet Jackson's imagemakers handling the fallout from her 'wardrobe malfunction'? And how about those Superbowl ads?

No one is b etter equipped to talk about those issues and many more than Stuart Elliott, longtime writer of the popular 'Advertising' column in The New York Times. Stuart will speak at Grand Valley on Thursday, March 18, at 7 p.m. in the Loosemore Auditorium of the D eVos Center, 401 W. Fulton St. in Grand Rapids. The lecture is open to the public free of charge.

Elliott began his journalism career on a manual typewriter several decades ago. Now considered one of the nation's top and most-read authorities on American advertising, his views on the creative and technological changes taking place in that industry are sought by major networks, firms, and thousands of marketers. He was recently seen on the Today Show and other national programs talking about the Superbowl ads and Janet Jackson's halftime spectacle. Always current, he is planning to address Martha Stewart's advertising strategies in upcoming articles.

At Grand Valley, Elliott will reflect on the past 20 years in advertising and offer his perspective on current practices and future trends. His visit is sponsored by Grand Valley's School of Communications in celebration of its 20-year anniversary.
