Lakers work out for scouts

And now, the wait begins.

A group of Laker football players performed a series of strength, speed, and agility tests before about 25 NFL scouts and new Detroit Lions coach Steve Mariucci on March 17 in the Fieldhouse.

Led by first team All-America selections Curt Anes, David Kircus, and Dale Westrick, other NFL hopefuls included Terrance Banks, Phil Condon, Reggie Spearmon, Brent Lesniak, Todd DeVree, Orlando Williams, and Melvin Estes. Scott Mackey, a junior, was evaluated for the 2004 NFL draft.

It was the first time Grand Valley hosted a workout day. The NFL draft is April 26 and 27.
