Grand Valley will be a site for the National Writing Project this
summer, hosting teachers of all disciplines who want to learn best
writing practices.
The Lake Michigan Writing Project will run July 7-31 at the Pew Grand
Rapids Campus. Antonio Tendero, assistant professor of English, is the
institute's director. Co-directors are Anna Babinec of Hart High School,
Roy Black of Wyoming Rogers High School, and Susan Mowers of Grand
Rapids Community College.
Tendero said during the four-week program participants will write,
read, research and share best writing practices.
'It's as a way to invigorate their teaching and learn new approaches to
bring back to their own classrooms.' he said.
The deadline for applications is April 15. Application forms can be
found online at www.lakemichiganwritingproject.org
. Participants will earn graduate credits and credentials as teaching
consultants who will provide teaching support in the school districts
during the academic year.
