The Arab Culture Club, a student group at Grand Valley, will celebrate
Middle Eastern culture, music, and traditions with its second 'A Taste
of the Arab World,' held March 27 on the Allendale Campus.
The event will be held 7-10 p.m. in the Grand River Room of the Kirkhof
Center and is open to the public free of charge. Featured will be
traditional Arab food and displays of authentic items from different
countries of the Middle East, including clothing, books, tapestries, and
more.
The musical group Salaam will perform music from the Middle East and
North Africa. The concert begins at 8 p.m.
The event is meant to celebrate Arab customs while also giving people
an opportunity to sample the diversity and richness of cultures of the
Middle East, said Angela Bajalieh, president of the Arab Culture Club.
About two dozen students participate in the club.
The first 'Taste of the Arab World' held last year was lively, with
about 100 people attending.
