He might be a millionaire but he's not telling ¿ at least not yet.
Justin Pettibone, a Grand Valley State University graduating senior,
was a contestant on the syndicated TV game show 'Who Wants To Be a
Millionaire?' He appeared on a college episode scheduled for broadcast
during the first week of February. In Grand Rapids, 'Millionaire' (with
host Meredith Vieira) is aired at 4:30 p.m. weekdays on WOOD-TV Channel 8.
Like other contestants, Pettibone was sworn to secrecy and cannot
reveal how much, if any, money he won. He will say that his immediate
plans include joining 700 other Grand Valley graduates at the December 7
commencement ceremony at Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids. A liberal
studies major, Pettibone will spend next semester studying in Spain.
The show Pettibone appeared on was taped in late September. He tried
out for 'Millionaire' after being prompted by his sister who lives in
Chicago, where auditions were held in the summer.
'I went to the audition, and there were thousands of people lined up,'
he said. 'They took in 500 people at a time. We sat in chairs and took a
30-question test.' Producers then interviewed the contestants who had
passed the pop culture and history test.
Pettibone met with producers and said, 'I figured I would never hear
from them.' But a few weeks later, he was flying to New York City for
the taping.
'It was very fun, but kind of stressful,' he said.
Could Grand Valley student be next 'Millionaire?'
