College Club Hockey Slides into Van Andel Arena

Escape from the cold this weekend and watch two hot games in a hockey double header. The Grand Valley State University Lakers and the Davenport University Panthers will face off before the Griffins' game Saturday, December 7.

The two college town rivals take to the Van Andel ice at 3:30 p.m., with the Grand Rapids Griffins and the Utah Grizzlies scheduled for 7:30 p.m. One $10 ticket gets you into both games.

Davenport has won 15 games this year. Its only loss coming at the hands of the Lakers, who are 12-7-1.

'This is a great opportunity for hockey fans to see these college teams in action. We have a great rivalry going with Davenport. Both teams are strong. It should be a terrific match-up,' said Scott Reale, Grand Valley's coach.

'Grand Valley has a very strong hockey team and they raised the bar on the competition level. We are looking forward to the big rematch on Saturday,' said Paul Lowden, Davenport University's hockey coach.

Anyone interested in tickets to the games can purchase them for $10 at the Van Andel arena on game day.
