Another regular on the carillons of the University of Michigan, Patrick Macoska, comes to Grand Valley Sunday as the International Carillon Concert Series continues. The 8 p.m. concert on the Cook Carillon is free of charge.

Patrick Macoska was born in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1952. He majored in architecture at the University of Detroit and received his master's degree there in 1975 while concurrently studying music at Marygrove College in Detroit. Macoska is a senior associate with the firm of Neumann/Smith and Associates Architects in Southfield, Michigan. Since 1972 he has been involved with music ministry at St. Mary's of Redford Catholic Church in Detroit, where he currently serves as organist and choirmaster and directs the handbell choir.

Macoska began his carillon studies in 1995 at the University of Michigan with Margo Halsted. He is a Carillonneur member of the Guild of Carillonneurs in North America. An assistant carillonist at the University of Michigan, Macoska plays regularly at Burton Tower on the university's main campus and at Lurie Tower on the north campus.
