Grand Rapids native James Boelkins has been named vice provost of the Grand Rapids Campus, and will assume the post July 1.
He comes to GVSU from Geneva College, in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania, where he's been vice president for academic affairs and provost since 1985. Prior to that, Boelkins had been a professor of physiology and pharmacology at the University of North Dakota and southern Illinois University.
I have watched GVSU develop over the years and I am impressed by the continued growth and program quality, Boelkins said.
His son, Matthew Boelkins, is a mathematics professor at GVSU.
