Return Trip
In his second consecutive performance in the 2000 International Carillon
Concert Series, Ann Arbor's Richard Giszczak shifts his performance from
last week's Father's Day Pops selection, to a bit more of a classical
flavor. Still, he'll work in a few of his arrangements of lighter
pieces.Mouret, Mozart, and Leen't Hart anchor a program that also
includes Giszczak'z versions of several Richard Rodgers show tunes,
including Climb Every Mountain, Younger Than Springtime, and Oh. What a
Beautiful Mornin.'Giszczak, who has transcribed and arranged more than
100 works for carillon, was acting carillonist at the University of
Michigan, where he studied the instrument under Margo Halsted. He is
also a chemical engineer and currently oversees safety, hazardous waste,
recycling, and the loading dock at the U-M Chemistry Department. All of
the free concerts in the summer series are Sundays at 8 p.m., on the
Allendale Campus. Bring lawnchairs, blankets, Frisbees, picnics, etc.
