NPR Host to Speak

The Seidman School of Business Alumni Association, in partnership with Legacy 2000 and with the assistance of WGVU Public Broadcasting, is bringing National Public Radio's Linda Wertheimer to Grand Rapids for a reception and dinner speech on Thursday, March 23. The reception will begin at 6:30 p.m. with dinner following at 7:15 p.m. at the Pantlind Ballroom of the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel.

The event is being chaired by Sharron Reynolds, a 1993 GVSU graduate and director of stewardship and development for the Diocese of Grand Rapids, and Suzanne Geha, news anchor of WOOD-TV. Proceeds from the event will benefit scholarship programs for women in the Seidman School of Business at GVSU. Individual tickets are priced at $50 per person and corporate tables are available for $1,000.

Wertheimer, a host of National Public Radio's All Things Considered, offers an insider's view of Washington, the political process and significant national issues. She has covered every major congressional news story since Watergate. Wertheimer draws on more than 20 years of political reporting experience to give a special perspective on what's happening in our nation's capital and what it means. She also makes appearances on CBS TV's Face the Nation program.

A graduate of Wellesley College, she received a 1985 Distinguished Alumnae Achievement Award from her alma mater. Wertheimer also holds honorary degrees from Colby College, in Waterville, Maine, and Wheaton College in Norton, Massachusetts.

Legacy 2000 was created to raise awareness and to increase appreciation of women's contributions to history. This event complements a series of related activities that will be promoted throughout the area by Legacy 2000 and its members.
