GVSU and Grand Rapids Community College have reached a new agreement that allows degree-seeking students at either school to take classes at the other.
The GVSU/GRCC Concurrent Enrollment Agreement Compact allows a GRCC student to take GVSU classes alternately and simultaneously, opening the doors to more scheduling options, course choices, and locations.
We're proud of our long partnership with GRCC, President Lubbers said. This compact is the latest example of our cooperation, which ensures that the people of West Michigan need look no further than their own community to find the best opportunities to pursue higher education, he added.
He noted that GVSU and GRCC pioneered cooperative efforts between community colleges and public universities. They created the model for the MACRAO (Michigan Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Offices) program, under which general education requirements are waived for students who have received MACRAO-approved associate of arts or science degrees.
Today we take MACRAO one step further, with added flexibility that we expect will be attractive to many students, Lubbers said.
The new agreement is effective immediately.
It is part of our mission to make higher education accessible, flexible and convenient for our students, and this enrollment agreement accomplishes all of those goals, said GRCC President Juan Oliverez.
