Fox Among the Lions

Former GVSU standout quarterback Jeff Fox has signed on with the Detroit Lions to fill the team's third QB slot as the team enters the NFL playoffs Saturday against the Washington Redskins.

With Lions starting quarterback Charlie Batch sidelined with a fractured thumb, Gus Frerotte will start Saturday's game against his former Washington team. First-year Lion Cory Sauter is Detroit's number-two quarterback.

Fox, the most productive quarterback in Laker Football history, was last in a Grand Valley uniform in the 1999 Snow Bowl, the Division II all-star game in Fargo, North Dakota.

The three-year starter for Brian Kelly's Lakers finished his career here holding 16 Midwest Interollegiate Football Conference offensive records. Under Fox, the Lakers were 26-8 with two MIFC titles.
