Computing Chief Named

Sue Korzinek has been appointed the new director of Academic Computing and Educational Technology, filling the position vacated by Dave Darnell. Her new duties include project management, staff management, and strategic planning for the unit.

Korzinek worked as the Academic Systems manager, in charge of the management of Academic Computing's faculty support services, the computer labs, the Help Desk, and Computer Store, for the last three years. Prior to that, she was a systems analyst for three years.

I believe technology in the classroom is important to enhance and distribute the method of teaching to accommodate students' individual learning styles, says Korzinek, who received her bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Grand Valley in 1983. I look forward to working with the academic units on campus to ensure pedagogical issues are considered when introducing technology into the teaching design.

Before coming to GVSU, Korzinek worked for nine years at Universal Companies in Grand Rapids.
