Master the Web

The Institute for Training and Development, part of GVSU's Continuing Education Division, is helping west Michigan computer workers gain certification.

The institute has been offering coursework necessary to gain the specialized technical certification in both Grand Rapids and Holland since late October.

A+ certification is an industry-supported credential that verifies competence as a computer support professional and service technician. Courses include PC and Internet fundamentals as well as diagnosis, upgrades and repair.

The Certified Webmaster program offers training essential for Web page design and administration, as well as e-business management. Courses range from HTML basics and design to e-commerce concepts and strategies.

Based on current demand, many more classes are forming in both Grand Rapids and Holland, said Cheri DeClercq, marketing director for the Institute for Training and Development.

Those interested in the special certification programs may call the Institute for Training and Development at 616-336-7300 or view the institute's own web site at www4.gvsu.edu/dist-ed/institute.htm.
