Healthy Move

[Hear President Lubbers' Comments]

Grand Valley State University, Michigan State, and Grand Rapids' major health care providers are joining forces in a new consortium to integrate clinical research, medical education, and health professions education.

GVSU, MSU, along with St. Mary's Mercy Medical Center, and Spectrum Health will call the partnership the Grand Rapids Medical Education and Research Center for Health Professions.

The consortium is intended to help both doctor and patient. In addition to the benefits of seeing top-notch health care professionals, West Michigan patients, through the partnership, will also be able to take part in research programs that will give them access to new drug therapy and other cutting-edge methods of health care.

This announcement shows a further expansion of the role of Grand Valley's health professions programs and the importance that has been placed on them by the local medical community, said President Arend D. Lubbers.

Eventually, all of GVSU's health professions programs will relocate to the Spectrum Health campus, formerly Butterworth Hospital. This fall, the Nurse Practitioner and the Physician Assistant Studies programs are there in the Cook Institute.
