Kwadwo Opoku-Agyemang, a professor from University of Cape Coast in Ghana, is teaching at Grand Valley State University this fall through next spring. Opoku-Agyemang is the first Fulbright scholar to come to campus, although several GVSU faculty and staff members have received Fulbrights for assignments abroad.
Opoku-Agyemang has taught African, Caribbean, African-American and British literature at the University of Cape Coast since 1986. This fall he is co-teaching two courses in GVSUs African/African-American Studies Program. With Professor Veta Smith Tucker he is teaching 'Early African-American Literature,' and with Herb Bellrichard-Perkins he is teaching a course on the 'African Diaspora.' Next semester he will teach 'Oral Literature in Africa,' a course that will be shared by Calvin College.
In addition to teaching courses, Opoku-Agyemang will give several lectures at Hope College, Davenport College, and Calvin College.
