On October 8, 2002, a crisp fall day, 15 of us, from 20 months old to 90 years old, got together at Robinette's Apple Haus and Winery in Grand Rapids. We sat at a big picnic table by their giant apple sculpture, had warm donuts, fresh cider, and homemade apple sauce made by Linda and Jessica. After enjoying these treats and spending some time to get to know each other, we headed to the orchards to pick apples. It was just picture-perfect: blue sky, green grass, red apples, four generations, enjoying reaching out to the perfect apples hanging high on the branches……
