The March deadline application cycle is open for applicants whose in-person or virtual programs start between May 1 to April 30 of the following year.

This cycle encompasses programs during the following terms:

  • Summer 
  • Fall
  • Academic Year (upcoming)
  • Spring of the upcoming academic year

The U.S. Department of State’s Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program enables students of limited financial means (Pell recipients) to study or intern abroad, providing awards of up to $5,000 for study-abroad programs that are three-weeks or more in length. The program aims to encourage students to study and intern in a diverse array of countries or areas and world regions. The program also encourages students to study languages, especially critical need languages (those deemed important to national security by adding a supplement of up to $3,000 for intensive language study of designated critical need languages). Are you planning to study abroad? ALL Gilman Applicants are Guaranteed a CIEE Gilman Go Global Grant of up to $2,500.
