Hale County Hospital, in partnership with Project Horseshoe Farm, has developed the Hospital Track of the Horseshoe Farm Fellowship. This track provides Fellows with the opportunity to engage deeply in Horseshoe Farm’s unique hands-on model of service, learning, and leadership development, while also working closely with a rural community hospital.
Fellows participating in the Hospital Track take part in Horseshoe Farm’s model of integrated community health programs, including:
Health Partners Program In collaboration with Hale County Hospital Home Health, Fellows extend one-on-one relational and community support to seniors, adults living with mental illness, and other vulnerable or isolated individuals.
Youth Programs — CLIMB Academy Developed in partnership with Hale County Hospital, Project Horseshoe Farm, and Greensboro High School, Fellows mentor a select group of outstanding local high school students several days each week through relationship-centered, experiential learning, community health, and volunteer service activities, while also supporting academic achievement.
Housing Programs Engagement with residents in nursing homes and Horseshoe Farm’s Enhanced Independent Living Housing program through relationship-centered visits and activities.
Community Center Programs Leading and supporting programs at Horseshoe Farm’s community center, creating welcoming spaces of belonging and support for isolated and vulnerable neighbors.
Hospital & Community Engagement
Opportunities to engage with, support, and learn about programs, operations, and opportunities of a rural community hospital and the broader community.
Through this community service-driven, experiential learning program, Fellows in the Hospital Track develop leadership skills while contributing to efforts that improve health outcomes, strengthen collaboration, and build lasting connections between Hale County Hospital and the community it serves.
Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. Priority deadline is in October. There's a second deadline in late January. There's a final deadline at the end of February/start of March. See website for details.
