SFS is in the business of training and empowering a generation of leaders. SFS study abroad programs help students develop practical skills through hands-on, experiential learning – while exploring incredible ecosystems, from the Amazon rainforest to the glaciers of Patagonia. If you’re looking to take your education out of the classroom and into mountains, temples, oceans – into the world – then you’ve come to the right place.

The work you do during your time abroad will prepare you for a future career in STEM fields, grad school, and beyond. From species identification and wildlife monitoring techniques to GIS and stakeholder interviews, the skills you learn at SFS are practical, transferable, and invaluable.

Before Applying:

  • Check with your home school for their requirements and deadlines. You should start the conversation with your home school study abroad office to discuss credit transfer, approved programs, financial aid, and any internal application/process.
  • Check the SFS eligibility requirements, which can be found on the Admissions Overview page.
  • Discuss SFS with your family, friends, pet, coach, and anyone else in your support network.
  • Apply for or renew your passport—it’s good to have even if you don’t study abroad with SFS!
  • Review the costs for your program and learn more about the SFS financial aid process.
