Honors students Eric-John Szczepaniak and Katherine Parker are both active in their communities and actively running for office this November.

Join Grand Rapids Mayor Rosalynn Bliss, Honors faculty and moderator, for a conversation with these two students about running for office at a young age and civic engagement!

Katherine Parker (D), candidate for Allendale Township Trustee, is in her third year studying Statistics and Public & Nonprofit Administration. Her passion is interpreting data, and using that information to guide public policy. After graduation, she expects to get a job at a local nonprofit doing data analysis.

Eric-John Szczepaniak (D), candidate for Alpine Township Clerk, is studying Public & Nonprofit Administration and History. Now in his final semester, Szczepaniak serves as the Student Senate President. In 2016, he was elected to the Kenowa Hills school board and is now running to continue serving his community as Clerk.
