Sigma Lambda Beta International Fraternity, Inc. (known as Lambda Betas or Betas) was founded April 4th, 1986 at the University of Iowa on the principles of Brotherhood, Scholarship, Community Service, and Cultural Awareness. SLB is a Latino-based fraternity with established multicultural membership. The foundation of our organization is based upon cultural understanding and wisdom; hence, our motto: "Opportunity for Wisdom, Wisdom for Culture." With over 150 entities in under 30 years of incorporation, Sigma Lambda Beta is considered the largest and fastest growing historically Latino social fraternity in existence. Locally, Sigma Lambda Beta was founded at Grand Valley State University on December 5th, 1998, and was chartered as the Alpha Gamma Chapter on November 4th, 2004.

Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc. was founded January 16, 1920 on the campus of Howard University in Washington D.C. by five phenomenal women known as our five pearls. Our sorority was founded on the principles of scholarship, service, sisterly love, and finer womanhood. The organization has been innovative in that it has chronicled a number of firsts. It was the first National Pan-Hellenic Council organization to centralize its operations in a national headquarters, first to charter a chapter in Africa, first to form auxiliary groups, and first to be constitutionally bound to a fraternity, Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. The Chi Xi chapter was chartered on January 11, 1992 on the campus of Grand Valley State University. As we mark our 20+ years on campus we continue to uphold the principles on which we were founded on.

As Grand Valley's First and Only Multicultural Sorority, we are committed to providing empowerment to all women and to create cultural awareness in the Grand Valley community. Sigma Lambda Gamma National Sorority, Inc. is the fastest growing organization in the Fraternal world! We were established at the University of Iowa on April 9th, 1990 and we were chartered here at Grand Valley State University as the Omicron Alpha chapter on February 20, 1999. We played a crucial role at Grand Valley in creating and organizing the Multicultural Greek Council, which currently holds four organizations. Our national philanthropies are Breast Cancer Awareness and the TRIO programs but we are also continuously participating in community service and giving back to the community at Grand Valley and the Grand Rapids/ Western Michigan surrounding areas. We have five principles that we strive to live by: Academics, Community Service, Cultural Awareness, Morals and Ethics, and Social Interaction.

Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity was founded at Howard University in Washington, D.C., January 9, 1914, by three young African-American male students. The Founders, Honorable A. Langston Taylor, Honorable Leonard F. Morse, and Honorable Charles I. Brown, wanted to organize a Greek letter fraternity that would truly exemplify the ideals of brotherhood, scholarship, and service. The Nu Gamma Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. was founded April 24, 1981. After 30 years and ups and downs including 6 years of inactivity we are back and ready to make a splash on the campus.
