In place of the typical 12-hour long Relay for Life event, the American Cancer Society at GVSU will be hosting a week-long virtual event. This event will be full of virtual activities, fundraising, a movie night, and much more! Follow our Facebook at "American Cancer Society Colleges Against Cancer at GVSU" for consistent updates throughout the week. Below we have listed a brief schedule of the events that will be taking place. In addition to what is mentioned, there will be cancer survivor highlights, educational components of the American Cancer Society, and daily leaderboard updates. Let's blast cancer out of this world!

Sunday: Opening ceremony and announcements of the lip sync battle, pet picture contest, and endurance walkers event

Monday: Virtual belly dancing performance and virtual space themed makeup tutorial

Tuesday: Luminaria ceremony (in-person at 8pm by GVSU's clocktower), lip sync battle and pet picture contest begin

Wednesday: Fightback ceremony, movie night showing "The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks" (in-person at 7pm in the Grand River Room)

Thursday: Virtual tarot card reader and virtual escape room

Friday: Closing ceremony and announcements of the winners of the lip sync battle and pet picture contest

The American Cancer Society at Grand Valley State University is a nationwide collaboration of college students, faculty, and staff dedicated to saving lives from cancer by initiating and supporting programs of the American Cancer Society on college campuses. The purpose of this organization shall be to provide knowledge of ways to prevent cancer and have fun while raising money for the American Cancer Society, which will, in turn, fund research, education, advocacy and services to help eliminate cancer as a major health problem.
