Science On Tap

Science on Tap, co-sponsored by GVSU and SpeakEZ Lounge, is an opportunity for conversation, debate and interaction between scientists and the public while drinking beer. Each month at SpeakEZ, a knowledgeable expert hosts a scientific discussion about current topics in the news such as ebola and the paleo diet. This is a great chance to exercise your academic interests in a casual setting while enjoying great food and adult beverages.

Below is the information for May's Science On Tap:

Speaker: Laura Stroik, Dept. of Biomedical Sciences, Grand Valley State University

Talk Description: The Middle Eocene (ca. 48-38 Ma) was a time when groups of modern mammals were starting to dominate the more “archaic” mammals of the post-dinosaur world. It was also a time of climatic fluctuations akin to the global warming we are now facing. In this talk, Dr. Laura Stroik will introduce you to the amazing world of the Middle Eocene of North America through the lens of the work she is doing at the Uinta Basin, Utah fossil site.
